Cataract Evaluation

The first step in your cataract evaluation is getting to know you and your vision related issues.

To help us with this we ask that you bring with you a list of your allergies, medical history, and any medications you are currently taking.  You may also be asked to complete a lifestyle survey so that the doctor knows how you currently use your vision and what your expectations are after surgery for your vision.

One of our highly trained technicians will begin your evaluation workup gathering important information for the doctor.  During your examination, the technician will check your vision, perform a refraction to see if your vision could be improved with glasses, a pressure check of your eyes and dilation.  The doctor will examine your eyes to determine the stage of your cataracts and if surgery will help to improve your vision.  You will discuss the risks and benefits of having surgery.  The doctor will also let you know what intraocular lens implant will best fit your vision needs.

At the end of the evaluation, if you decide that surgery is right for you, our surgical scheduler will meet with you. You will be on your way to clearer vision!
